- 전지구적 문화정치의 조건들 혹은 재정치화의 장소들로서 아시아 문화도시 그리고 문화경제의 전개

2. 기획의도

이 국제회의는 한국문화연구학회의 첫 번째 국제적 범위의 학술회의로서 전지구적 문화정치와 문화경제의 변화맥락에 대한 비판적 문화연구의 개입을 통해 국민국가와 국가간 체제의 탈구의 맥락들을 대안적인 문화정치의 새로운 지형으로 파악하고자 한다. 따라서 이 회의는 그 작인들을 대안적 지역공간의 생산 혹은 아시아문화도시라는 현상 속에서 해명하고자 하는 한편 탈경계적 정체화의 장소들과 거기에서 구성되는 locality 혹은 사회기층적인 아시아다움을 문제삼을 것이다. 이는 전지구적인 문화흐름의 중층적 차원들 사이의 관계를 탐사하는 작업이자, 탈경계적 관계성의 실천장소로서 오프라인의 접궤지점과 온라인의 탈영토화된 정체성정치의 장소들을 재경계화하여 새로운 세계인식의 틀과 대안적 공간창출의 지형을 주형해가는 작업의 일환이다.

여기서 문제의 핵심은 이러한 탈영토화의 맥락에 대한 국민국가의 역할은 무엇이며, 이러한 새로운 문화정치의 장소들은 이산된 공공영역들의 재구성을 촉구하며 새로운 정치경제단위를 구축, 복수의 다원평등한 세계상을 구도해낼 수 있는 지점이 될 수 있는가하는 것이다. 여기에 전지구적 생산관계의 불온한 태생틀, 다양한 자유무역지대에서의 국지성(locality)은 이러한 새로운 문화정치의 장소들과 어떻게 대치 혹은 병치, 중첩되는가? 또한 전지구적 광고와 같은 동질화의 다양한 도구들과 그것의 현지화가 만들어내는 차이의 귀환이 이러한 문화정치의 장소들에 작동하는 방식 및 그 내재된 반문화성은 새로운 문화적 지역화의 기획과 어떻게 길항하는가 하는 문제들의 논의의 핵심 고리를 이룰 것이다.

2. Purpose of the Conference

This conference aims to examine the decentralizing context of nation-state and inter nation-state systems as the new formation of an alternative cultural politics via the intervention of critical cultural studies in global cultural politics and the context of a changing cultural economy. The conference attempts to identify the operating factors of the phenomenon from the production of alternative local spaces or the context of the Asian culture city. It will also critically address issues of the deterritorized identification of space, constructed localities and the sense of a socially rooted ‘Asianess’. This is an invaluable approach in the exploration of the relationship between structural levels of global culture flow and the formulation of the topography necessary for constructing alternative spaces alongside new epistemological frameworks for securing offline contact zones as practical places of deterritorized relationships and the re-territorizing of the deterritorized places of a virtual identity politics.

 

Subsequently, key questions arise concerning : the role of the nation-state in the context of deterritorization. Additionally, it is important to examine whether or not these new places of cultural politics reconstruct new political and economic units by triggering the reformulation of a fragmented public sphere and thus become a place for multiple, plural and equal, perspectives on the world. How do diverse localities in free-trade zones, the improper descent of global productive relations, confront, parallel, or overlap with the sites of new cultural politics? Furthermore, the conference will discuss the way in which these places of cultural politics operate through various homogenization devices such global advertising and the return of difference via their localization. The conference will also focus in-depth on the processes through which embedded anti-culturalism within localities contends with new projects of cultural localization.
